Wine and chocolate—two of life’s greatest pleasures—came together in perfect harmony at The Wine Guru’s "For the Love of Chocolate" pairing event at Osorio’s Latin Fusion. Guests were treated to an indulgent evening of expertly curated wines and delectable bites, proving that the right combination can elevate both food and drink to new heights.
The Red Wines
We explored a diverse lineup of wines from around the world, each selected to complement the evening’s chocolate-infused delights:
Dona Matilde Boavida Old Vine Field Blend (Portugal) – This complex red brought an elegant mix of dark fruit, spice, and velvety tannins that played beautifully with rich chocolate flavors.
Groundwork Red Wine Blend (California) – A bold yet smooth blend that balanced ripe berry notes with a touch of earthiness, making it a standout pairing for our more intense chocolate selections.
Château Tanunda Grand Barossa GSM (Australia) – A vibrant Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre blend with layers of red fruit, pepper, and subtle oak, pairing exceptionally well with both sweet and savory elements.
Castelmaure Col des Vents Corbières (France) – With its rustic charm, this French blend showcased bright acidity and deep fruit flavors, making it a versatile match for multiple courses.
Elqui CSM (Chile) – A rich, structured blend of Carménère, Syrah, and Malbec, offering dark cherry, spice, and a hint of chocolate itself—an ideal wine for the evening’s theme.
Chocolate Pairings

We also had an assortment of thoughtfully handcrafted snacks to highlight the complementary flavors and textures of each wine:
Chocolate Raspberry Mousse – Decadent and velvety, this dessert was a dream with the deep fruit notes of the Dona Matilde Boavida Old Vine Field Blend.
Strawberry Salad Cups – A fresh and bright pairing that brought out the lively fruit flavors in the Château Tanunda Grand Barossa GSM.
Hand-Dipped Chocolate Covered Potato Chips – A delightful mix of sweet and salty that harmonized with the Groundwork Red Wine Blend’s balance of fruit and earthiness.
Chicken Mole Taquitos – Rich and savory with just a hint of spice, these taquitos were a match made in heaven for the Castelmaure Col des Vents Corbières.
Crostini with Mascarpone, Pomegranate, Pistachio, and Chocolate – A textural and flavor masterpiece that found its ideal companion in the deep, structured profile of the Elqui CSM.
Throughout the afternoon, guests savored the interplay of flavors, discovering how the right wine can elevate a dish and vice versa. With laughter, lively conversation, and a shared appreciation for food and wine, "For the Love of Chocolate" was a night to remember.
